Things I Imagined
Things I Imagined is an exhibition of portraits created over a two year span, shot in multiple locations across the Bay Area, Los Angeles and New York. It is an amalgam of my time living in the Bay Area and my time spent at Cal State East Bay.
Growing up I’ve always had an interest in fashion. Dressing fly has always been an important part of my life. As a young kid, my mom made sure I always looked my best before school and you already know the dopest fits were reserved for church on Sundays. When I got old enough to start dressing myself, I ran with it. Pulling inspiration from my favorite music artists and dressing like them with my own twist. Now that I am older, inspiration comes from the the environment I am in.
There is a certain confidence that people exude when wearing certain pieces of clothing. If you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you perform good. That feeling of confidence is something that I try to capture in my portraits.
The vibrant and colorful environment and communities around the Bay Area, including the high rises in downtown San Francisco, inspired me to start using lines and colors in my portraits to draw in my viewers, the same way I was drawn into the Bay Area. Influenced by my environment, I was able to elevate my photography in ways I never imagined.
The show will run from June 27th - October 25th
